I have been struggling a little as a motivated Christian. I have not pursued the Lord as I ought to have been. This is not new for me, and I feel most Christians would agree that these times and seasons come and go. But, I always seem to be surprised when I am in a funk after these "dry" times in my spiritual pursuit of the Lord.
But I was given a sudden reminder yesterday at church, that the Lord is far, far, and infinitely greater than my sin. I was reminded that God is not affected by my sin. My ability to sin does not affect or alter God's ability to forgive. Me - a sinner to the furthest degree - cannot make Christ's sacrifice of no effect!
There was a song. I don't know the name of the song, but it said, "You are God alone, and since before time began, You are on your throne! .... " Which seemed to have instantly melted my hardened heart. God is on his throne! How amazing is that thought? God, who has been forever and will be forever, without ever changing in the least (James 1:17) ... is still sitting on his throne, even when I sin. Even when I change and sway back and forth (like the man upon the sea ... James again) God is not taken off guard by that. He still reigns and rules just like before.
You are not a god
Created by human hands
You are not a god
Dependant on any mortal man
You are not a god
In need of anything we can give
By Your plan, that's just the way it is
You are God alone
From before time began
You were on Your throne
Your are God alone
And right now
In the good times and bad
You are on Your throne
You are God alone
You're the only God
Whose power none can contend
You're the only God
Whose name and praise will never end
You're the only God
Who's worthy of everything we can give
You are God
And that's just the way it is
Unchangeable
Unshakable
Unstoppable
That's what You are
